DEcenter | REcenter

DEcenter | REcenter is a creative project from the collaborative team of editor Clayton Hable and director/choreographer trio of Theresa Bautista with first-time-filmmakers Ila Conoley Paladino and John Cartwright.  This 9 minute dance film short is a culminating work from the 2020 Kentucky Governor’s School for the Arts dance program. It was conceived by faculty and performed by students from across the state with the aide of family as camera and crew, all done remotely.  Thematically, the seven distinct sections of movement explore the idea of “decentering” one’s self in an effort to listen to and amplify the voices of others, ultimately “recentering” with collective empathy.
